Club Competition 

The Show Choir competition is designed for 12 or more participants. The performance should be no more than four minutes. The Show Choir may use choreography to enhance the performance. This competition gives clubs the opportunity to showcase vocal harmony, creative selection, and entertainment value.

The stage is not accessible to any school group except during performance time. Therefore, it is not available for rehearsals, walkthroughs, blocking for talent or accessible for photos before or after sessions. 

Elementary Betas are eligible to compete in Elementary competitions only.


Junior Betas are eligible to compete in Junior competitions only.


Senior Betas are eligible to compete in Senior competitions only.


Time Limit: 4 Minutes

Competition Guidelines

  • If the club is not listed on the app, an adult/participant must check-in with the judges’ table 15 minutes prior to the competition starting . If the participants leave prior to performing they may forfeit the opportunity to compete.
  • The selection of the choral repertoire should be appropriate. Any style is acceptable. Lyrics will be deemed appropriate as performed.
  • No inappropriate dance moves, gestures, language, or music.
  • Timekeeping starts when the vocal performance begins. Groups will have a brief grace period to arrange themselves. Timing begins the moment the pitch is given or first note on the accompaniment track.
  • Live instruments of any kind will not be allowed in the competition. All performances must be a cappella or sung with a recorded accompaniment track. No tuned percussion is permitted, with the exception of pitch pipes or similar devices used solely to generate a starting pitch. Synthesized or background vocals on the accompaniment track are not permitted.
  • A link to the upload form will be emailed when the testing and submission window opens or can be accessed by clicking Talent Upload on the State Convention Registration page. The following file types will be allowed: mp3 mp4 or wav.If your performance contains multiple songs and/or sound effects, they must be combined into one track in order to be submitted. BE ADVISED:
    We strongly encourage you to bring a BACKUP copy of your music on a flash drive to convention. 
  • Selections must be sung from memory.
  • Costumes are not permitted. A costume is something you would wear to represent a specific character.
  • Props and hats are not allowed during the performance.
  • The dress for participants in the performance must be appropriate. No strapless, or low cut tops, no midriffs showing, and inappropriate removal of clothing will result in a deduction of points. Coordinated attire, such as, but not limited to matching shirts, pants, shorts, skirts, choir robes, or school uniforms, etc. will be allowed. Dresses and skirts must be knee length.
  • SAFETY - No use or portrayal of ANY weapons.
  • SAFETY - Tumbling or cheerleading stunts are not allowed at any time during the performance.
  • SAFETY - Balloons, hay, fog machines, live animals (Excluding service animals) or fire/open flame are prohibited by National Beta and the facility.  
  • SAFETY - Throwing items from the stage into the audience is prohibited.
  • SAFETY - Only portable, choral risers may be used to elevate participants. No raised or elevated platforms.  
  • SAFETY - Skateboards, roller skates, rollerblades or hoverboards are prohibited.

  • Register students and then select competitions to enter.
