Club Competition
Songfest is a competition in which a club rewrites a song to incorporate the 2025 - 2026 Theme - Wired for Succcess. This competition gives clubs the opportunity to showcase creativity and innovation, performing arts and interpretation of the theme.
A club must have a minimum of 8 students to participate.
A club may have only one entry.
The stage is not accessible to any school group except during performance time. Therefore, it is not available for rehearsals, walkthroughs, blocking for talent or accessible for photos before or after sessions.
Elementary Betas are eligible to compete in Elementary competitions only.
Junior Betas are eligible to compete in Junior competitions only.
Senior Betas are eligible to compete in Senior competitions only.
Time Limit: 3 Minutes
Competition Guidelines
- If the club is not listed on the app, an adult/participant must check-in with the judges’ table 15 minutes prior to the competition starting . If the participants leave prior to performing they may forfeit the opportunity to compete.
- The Songfest entry must incorporate the 2025 - 2026 Theme - Wired for Success. Interpretation of the theme must be evident throughout the club’s performance.
- The time limit for the performance is 3 minutes. Groups will have a brief grace period to arrange themselves. Timing begins the moment the pitch is given or first note on the accompaniment track.
- Clubs must submit one typed/printed copy of the original lyrics and one typed/printed copy of the rewritten lyrics to the coordinator at the time of the performance. On the rewritten typed/printed lyrics, include the name of school and Club ID #. If a club qualifies to compete at Nationals, then a new typed/printed copy of the original lyrics and a new typed/printed copy of the rewritten lyrics must be submitted to the coordinator.
- National Beta will not be responsible for printing original or rewritten lyrics.
- Props and backdrops are prohibited.
- Stationary movements will be allowed. This means that the students’ feet must remain in place during the performance. Examples of stationary movement are, but not limited to, clapping, finger snapping, swaying and simple gestures that enhance the lyrics.
- A link to the upload form will be emailed when the testing and submission window opens or can be accessed by clicking Talent Upload on the State Convention Registration page. The following file types will be allowed: mp3 mp4 or wav.If your performance contains multiple songs and/or sound effects, they must be combined into one track in order to be submitted. BE ADVISED:
We strongly encourage you to bring a BACKUP copy of your music on a flash drive to convention. - No inappropriate dance moves, gestures, language or music.
- The dress for participants in the performance must be appropriate. No strapless, or low cut tops, no midriffs showing, and inappropriate removal of clothing will result in a deduction of points.
- Matching shirts, pants, shorts, skirts, ties/bow ties, hairbows/headbands and school uniforms will be allowed.
- Costumes are not permitted. Hats, suspenders, gloves, sunglasses, sequined/lighted bow ties or lighted headbands are NOT permitted during the performance.
- All club members on stage must sing.
- Only microphones provided by the audio visual company hired by National Beta may be used. A maximum of three handheld mics will be permitted.
- No background vocals are allowed on the accompaniment track. This means no words or computerized/synthesized voices on the accompaniment track.
- Risers are prohibited.
- SAFETY - No raised or elevated platforms.
- SAFETY - No use or portrayal of ANY weapons.
- SAFETY - Balloons, hay, fog machines, live animals (Excluding service animals) or fire/open flame are prohibited by National Beta and the facility.
- SAFETY - Throwing items from the stage into the audience is prohibited.
- SAFETY - Skateboards, roller skates, rollerblades or hoverboards are prohibited.
